Due to the nature of pastels, to protect them from smudging, I recommend that you keep them in their original protective packaging, until you are ready for framing.
When choosing a frame, I recommend a frame with real glass. Avoid using acrylic glass for pastel artworks, as it generates static.
Once you have framed your portrait its important to hang it in the right place. As in most cases, heat and sunlight can have detrimental effects. So avoid placing artwork in direct sunlight.
